In his speech, Alexander Keck, Director of the Trade Policy Review Department of the WTO Secretariat, highly praised China’s positive and open attitude in the preparations for this trade policy review, fully affirmed that China’s hosting of side events will help WTO members gain a deeper understanding of China’s economic and trade policies, increase trust and dispel doubts. It praised China as the first WTO member to actively implement the results of the reform of the trade policy review mechanism. Trade policy review is one of the three major functions of the WTO alongside rule negotiation and dispute resolution. Members raise questions and express concerns about trade policies to each other.
